The Iceland series of paintings were based on drawings done in the interior of Iceland during a two week hike in 2004. In these paintings the rock formations become islolated and unattached to other formations, especially when compared to the earlier series of mongolian landscapes. Both of these series use a stacked space as in chinese landscape.
